Events - Wing Athletics

The inter-squadron athletics championships will be held in York on Sunday 11 April 2010, commencing with a staff briefing at 1000hrs. An admin order is attached.

The venue for the event will be Huntington Stadium, Water World, Kathryn Avenue, Huntington, YORK, YO32 9JS.

Please make every effort to travel with neighbouring squadrons in order to reduce costs. Please ensure you obtain prior approval from the Wing Treasurer before hiring a coach/ Minibus. If you do not receive an approval number from the treasurer to put on your GPF 100 claim your bill when presented WILL not be paid.

In order to assist with the smooth running on the day, team sheets are to be provided in advance. It will still be permissible to make changes, but these should be kept to a minimum.

Completed team sheets are to be emailed to OC 886 Squadron (oc.886@aircadets.org) the week before the event, ie Friday 3 Apr 09, sooner if possible, whilst completed amendment sheets are to be handed in to event control by 1000hrs on the day

The Region event will be held on Sunday 23 May 2010.

The wing team for the region championships will be selected as a result of the day's event. All team managers are therefore asked to indicate cadets’ availability on the team sheets.

Please pay particular attention to age groups. Cadets competing in the wrong age group will be disqualified. NB. Please do not use the "Age groups" report on Bader as it is still wrong!

Running this event is very labour-intensive. In order to run the event smoothly, each squadron is to make two members of staff or senior cadets available to act as officials.

Any staff members who wish to volunteer for a particular role on the day should contact Flt Lt Crebbin or FO Crebbin beforehand. Squadron commanders are asked to confirm to the Wing Sports Officers before the event that they are able to provide the requisite members of staff. If you do not, you run the risk of us having to cancel events through lack of staff.

All squadrons are also requested to supply a cadet for assistance with general duties on the day such as running results sheets up to the scorers. This need not be a non-competitor as the cadets will be split into "shifts". The more squadrons that comply with this request, the less time each individual cadet will need to be on duty.

"How to" guides covering staff duties are included in the admin order. Please read the guide applicable to your role before the day. Any technical queries should be directed to Flt Lt Crebbin.

Uniform will not be required for the event.
