Welcome to the Home of 2168 (Yeadon) Squadron, ATC

Foreword by Flt Lt Mark Brittain RAF VR(T)

Welcome to the official website of 2168 (Yeadon) Squadron Air Training Corps, the premier youth organisation in the North West Leeds area, and one of the very highest performing Squadrons in the North of England.

Based in the North West Leeds aviation quarter adjacent to Leeds & Bradford Airport, and the heliport at Coney Park, Yeadon, we are definitely in the right place if you are looking for a challenge that centres around aviation.

As a Squadron we take part in the whole range of activities that are available for an Air Cadet and the limit to what we can do is limited only by your imagination.

Our Cadets are enjoying flying, gliding, competition target shooting, going on camps, taking part in all kinds of action, adventure and sports. It's great fun too, with the opportunity to enjoy an active social life many new friends with similar interests to yours.

Air Cadets, aged 13 to 20, and their supporting staff get the opportunity to participate in a large range of stimulating and rewarding activities. Where else could you learn to fly aerobatics, visit Royal Air Force Stations, tour foreign countries, play sports from local to International level, learn the skills to lead expeditions, become a rifle marksman (there were 84 qualifications gained at 2168 across 2006), gain all of your Duke of Edinburgh's Awards, canoe, take up a musical instrument, assist your community, learn aviation subjects to BTEC level, go caving, parachute, climb, sail, ski...? These and much more really are readily available to you as a member of the Air Cadet Organization, whether you are a cadet or staff member.

The question asked by more people than any other is how much does it cost? It is surprisingly inexpensive, and monthly subscription charges are the equivalent of £10.00 a month. There are some very modest additional costs, but none for routine activities such as flying, gliding and shooting, and routine training at the Squadron.

As you explore the web site you will be able to discover much more about how you could be a part of the success at 2168 (Yeadon) Squadron and the wider Air Cadet Organization - whether as a cadet taking advantage of the opportunities available, a staff member volunteering your time to contribute to the development of young people or as one of our many civilian supporters ensuring we have the ability to support our 'next generation'.

Take a look around our site and if you require any further information regarding the Squadron, or the wider Air Cadet Organisation, please feel free to contact us, or visit us at the Squadron during public opening times Wednesday and Fridays 1900 - 2130hrs.
We look forward to meeting you.
